The rumoured death of Alhaji Asari Dokubo, founder of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF) has been dismissed by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), The Punch reports.

Unconfirmed report on various platforms in the media, not this one, had it Dokubo was attacked by military personnel.

It was being rumoured that Asari Dokubo whereabouts was not known after the attack, and may have been killed.

But according to a statement by the spokesman for IYC, Eric Omare, on Saturday, August 27, the former militant warlord was in good health, as there was never a confrontation between him and military men.

Dokubo’s rumoured death comes exactly a month he lost his wife, Alhaja Zainab Asari Dokubo, in a motor accident.

Zainab died alongside a friend on their way to Ibadan.
