French armed policemen confronted a woman on a beach and asked her to remove her clothing following a ban on the burkini swimsuit on Tuesday.

The incident has taken place at Nice beach and caused a wide media coverage after the photo showing four police officers standing over a woman removing her long-sleeved tunic emerged.

Actually, the beach at the town’s Promenade des Anglais is the scene of July’s lorry attack by ISIS supporters that resulted in the death of 86 people.

In another development, Islamist knifemen broke into church, slit priest’s throat and took hostages in Normandy, France.

Since then several French towns have implemented bans on burkinis, the traditional Muslim swimsuit which covers the body and head, citing possible links to Islamic extremism and disregard for French laws.

According to local media, the 34-yea-old mother-of-two was fined for not wearing “an outfit respecting good morals and secularism”.

She said: “I was sitting on a beach with my family. I was wearing a classic headscarf. I had no intention of swimming.”

A witness to the scene, Mathilde Cousin, commented on the incident: “The saddest thing was that people were shouting ‘go home’, some were applauding the police. Her daughter was crying.”

A month ago there were reports about a Muslim man who stabbed a mother and her three young daughters for being scantily-dressed in France.
