Chinedu Agwu, a former Enyimba and Kaduna United goalkeeper, is dead, Premium Times reports.

Chinedu Agwu, a former Enyimba and Kaduna United goalkeeper, is dead

According to a close family source, Agwu died a​ ​few hours into the New Year​, after a protracted illness​.

The 30​ ​year old​,​ made waves while at Kaduna United but was denied first team opportunit​y​ after ​an​ ambitious move to Enyimba.

Late Agwu was a great penalty kick stopper as second choice goalkeeper, when Kaduna United upset Enyimba in a penalty shootout to win the Federation Cup in 2010, which later earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles that same year.

A former teammate of Agwu at Kaduna United, Balogun Kayode, while stating that he was yet to hear of the death of the goalkeeper​,​ said he was aware of the illness.

In 2015, former Heartland and Kano Pillars forward, Abdul Haruna, died after collapsing on the pitch during a friendly football match between Kano professionals and a selected amateur team in Kano. He was 27 years old.
