Ambode: Lagos Will Still Succeed Despite Doom Predictions

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has predicted boom for the state despite several economic doom predictions aimed at Nigeria’s commercial city. 

The governor made the remark while speaking at the 2016 Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Lagos State Government, held at the State House, Ikeja, today, December 3.

Ambode said: “We are determined to achieve inclusive progress in governance. Employment will boom, Lagos will grow in leaps and bound.”

The governor expressed optimism that there would be employment boom in Lagos this year, while artisans and skill vocations would thrive in the state.

He thanked God for sustaining Lagos all through 2015 and for bringing him to power, despite the fears that the 2015 general elections would be violent, Vanguard reports.

According to Ambode, he was excited that the elections that brought him to power turned out to be free and fair and one that led to a change in government, in which the opposition party took over power at the center.

Prominent Nigerians who attended  the thanksgiving service include Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer, Redemmed Christian Church of God (RCCG); Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM); Rev. Mercy Ezekiel of the Christ Pentecostal Mission (CPM); wife of the Governor, Bolanle Ambode; wife of the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Olusola Obasa; Most Rev. Ephraim Ademowo and Archbishop Adewale Martins.

Also in attendance were Chief Kemi Nelson, All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Lagos; Rev. Felix Meduoye, General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church; Chief Judge of Lagos state, Olufunmilayo Atilade; Alabi David, Chairman, Conference 57; Rev. Moses Aransiola; Pastor Wale Adefarasin of the Guiding Light Assembly, among others.
