The vice president, Yemi Osinbajo will be representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the inauguration of the newly elected President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.

Osinbajo arrived Ouagadougou this morning, December 29, for the inauguration.

He was welcomed by H.E Michel Kafando, the transitional President of Burkina Faso as he arrived.

Kaboré won the election last month. He was elected Burkina Faso’s new president, according to preliminary results released by the electoral commission, in an election that will replace a transitional government put in place after the West African nation’s longtime leader was toppled in a popular uprising last year.

Nigeria’s vice president was welcomed by Michel Kafando, the transitional president.

Kabore, who will replace a transitional government, dedicated his victory to those who died in the popular uprising that overthrew President Blaise Compaore last year and during resistance to a failed military coup in September.
